The children have continued to work hard this week. In English the children have listened to the story of Dogger and then created their own little books about a lost toy. The children produced some beautiful work and they enjoyed sharing these with each other. During the assembly today one of the stories was chosen and shared with the whole school!
In Maths the children have been busy using a variety of resources to add numbers to 10 and beyond. There were also set a task to record number sentences which has been followed up for homework.
On Tuesday the children enjoyed the visit from Father Nicholas from the Dominican Order. They remembered lots of interesting information that he shared with them and I think they were amazed to know that he has 6000 brothers and does not have a television!
The children have been busy designing castles and have used a variety of resources including the 2Simple program which will help them when they begin to make their own castle out of recycled boxes.
Here are some of the designs the children have created:
If your child has not yet brought in a box but would like to then there is still time. We particularly need cylinder shapes so if you have any at home then we would be grateful if you could send them in.
The children are very much looking forward to the school trip next week. You may like to have a look at the Windsor Castle website with your child at the weekend as the website provides lots of interesting information about the castle. The address is: www.royalcollection.org.uk/visit/windsorcastle
In English next week the children will be looking at ‘recounts’ and will be writing a recount of their trip to Windsor Castle. In Maths the children will continue to focus on addition and will be using ‘Money’. They will have the opportunity to ‘buy’ items using coins which will enable them to relate their knowledge of addition to another context.
Enjoy the weekend!
