WB: 23.4.18.

In English, the children have been using their imagination from the colour ‘purple’ poem to create their own poems. They enjoyed working together in pairs to choose a theme and come up with five ideas for their poem.

Next week, we will continue to look at poems which include pattern and rhyme.
In Maths, we have been using a variety of resources to count in twos, fives and tens and then have used these skills to solve mathematical problems.

During RE, the children have been thinking about different Holydays celebrated in the Church year. Next week, we will be teaching the children about the Ascension.
It has been very interesting listening to the children share their information about ‘Famous People’. During our Art and Design lesson the children have been learning about Vincent Van Gogh. Next week, the children will use pastels to create their own pictures of the famous sunflowers.
The good weather enabled us to have our PE lessons outdoors and the children enjoyed working together in teams to complete their given tasks.

Enjoy the weekend!

Summer Term!
It was lovely to see all the children return to school on Tuesday looking refreshed after their Easter holidays.
In English, this week we have been looking at a poem about the colour purple and next week we will be creating our own poems about ‘colour’.
In Maths, we have been exploring equal groups and looking at different numbers that can be grouped in 2s, 5s and 10s. We will continue this next week and begin to look at multiplication.
Our new RE topic on Holidays and Holydays began and the children enjoyed sharing their holiday experiences with each other.
Next week, we will begin our new History topic on Famous People. I look forward to seeing the children’s homework next week to see what famous person in History that they have chosen to find out about.
As the weather is getting warmer now it would be great if each child could bring in a water bottle every day.
Next week, we welcome Ben into our school community and hope he and his family will be happy at St Dominic’s.
Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your card and wishes of luck for Sunday in the London Marathon. The Krispy Kreme doughnut sale that was organised to support the Whizz-Kidz charity was a great success. A total of £172.00 was raised which was amazing so thank you for supporting this. A special thanks to Mrs Serra and Mrs Gladkow for helping with this sale, it was much appreciated.
