Welcome back!
What a wonderful start to the new term we have had. We have spent time getting to know the children and finding out what Year 1 is all about. The children have settled well and have embraced the Year 1 curriculum with enthusiasm.
Together we have created our class rules. I am also very impressed with our ‘Star Helpers’ who have taken on responsibilities within the class such as line leader, register monitors and safety inspectors. These roles will be changed weekly.
We have had elections for those children wanting to be a member of the ECO team or a School Council member. The results are as follows:
Our ECO team representatives are Issy and Joel .
Our School Council members are Alice and Ted.

In RE we reflected on the life of Saint Dominic and discussed what our ‘Mission Statement’ means to us.
The children worked together to create a beautiful autumn picture. This consisted of them colour mixing and leaf printing.

This week in Maths, the children began by completing a carousel of Mathematical activities. Then they progressed to finding out about ‘position’ using language such as left, right , beside, underneath to describe where an object was. We have also been using ordinal numbers.
In English, we have been writing labels and will continue  to write lists and captions.
We began out topic of ‘Happily Ever After’ and the children have been learning about living and non-living things.
It was lovely to meet so many of you on Tuesday afternoon at the parent meeting. If you were not able to attend and have any concerns at all then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Next week, we look forward to celebrating our first Mass of the new school year to which you are all very welcome.

If your child enjoys using the Internet there are some websites that I would recommend:

Have a lovely weekend!
