The children have had a busy couple of weeks in Year 1.
In RE, the children have continued to listen to Psalms. They have been thinking about all the wonderful things in our life and thanking God for taking care of us and our families.

Thank for all the lovely family photos that have been sent in already which will be added to our display. Tomorrow, we will conclude our ‘Families’ topic by thinking about and comparing our life to that of Jesus’ life. Next week, we will begin our new topic on ‘Belonging’.
Through our topic work the children had fun acting out the story of Little Red Riding Hood. The children enjoyed using musical instruments to create sound effects for the different parts of the story.

They have also been writing a description of a fairy tale character and creating a story map. This work will support them when they write their own version of a fairy tale.

During Maths, the children have been sequencing numbers in the correct order. They have also been exploring the language of addition by regrouping numbers using the ‘part whole’ cherry model.
Thank you so much to all our families for the wonderful Harvest contributions. They were so creative and just amazing!

A big thank you also for the sponsorship money received so far to support the work of Harpenden Spotlight on Africa and books for our school.  Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
Next week, we are looking forward to starting our work with Mrs Boxall in the Forest School.
Have a lovely weekend!
