Hello Year 1
Hope you and your families are keeping safe and well.

Please find below the Home Learning Grid for next week.

The Department for Education are going to be running daily phonics lessons (Letters and Sounds) from next week on the YouTube channel below.

21st April was International Creativity and Innovation Day and Mrs McCaughey has sent through some creative and problem solving Science challenges that you might like to try:
  1. Floating and sinking investigations - making a boat
  2. Science Museum Group - spaghetti structures
  3. The James Dyson Foundation science and engineering challenges
An assembly for week beginning 27th April can be found on the link below:

I have been so impressed with the variety of work that you have been completing at home - mathematical tasks, cooking, scientific experiments, yoga...  I can also see that you have been working hard with your ‘My Maths’ tasks. Here are some pictures of the work that has been sent through this week...
The children appear to be enjoying our new Geography topic.
They have been finding out where Peru is located on a map and what the capital city is. They have also been finding out how Paddington Bear travelled from Peru to where he was found by the Brown family.

What a fabulous Peru map and flag!

Ralph has found out some interesting facts about Paddington Bear and written then down beautifully.

Marina has been very busy writing and creating some amazing pieces of work.

I can see that there have been some yummy marmalade cookies, muffins and sandwiches made this week. I am sure Paddington Bear would be very pleased to sample some of those!

Completing the multiplication task with money – what a great idea because money is a tricky concept to grasp in year 1.

Connie has drawn a picture of herself and labelled the body parts wonderfully with such detail.

Alessia and Archie created some amazing under water homes linked to our English theme this week.

Our children of key workers have had fun this week making puppets, pom-poms and creating a beautiful ‘rainbow of hope’.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
Mrs Myers and Mrs Serra
